What’s the difference between EBS8ML and EBS12ML?


The EBS 8 and the EBS 12 are both ideal for cutting cable trays, bolts and medium-hard steel wire. They are both available to order online directly from our website.

Their main difference is that the EBS 8 model has a max diameter of 8mm and the EBS 12 has a max diameter of 12mm.

Other minor differences:

  • The cutting force of the EBS12ML is 3x more than then EBS8ML. (45kN for the EBS12 ML vs. 15 kN for the EBS8ML)

What’s the difference between the EBS8ML, the EBS8CFM and the EBS8CFB?


  • The -CFM and the -CFB models are the same except that the-CFM uses an 18v Makita battery system and the -CFB uses an 18v Bosch battery system. The -ML uses a 10.8v Klauke battery.

  • The -CFM/-CFB are part of Klauke’s Next Generation tool line, which boast an OLED display and Bluetooth connectivity with the Klauke Link App.

  • The cutting time for the -CFM/-CFB version is half as long: 1 second per cut in contrast to the -ML’s 2-second cut time (depending on material thickness).

The Klauke ES 20 is a battery powered hydraulic cutting tool suitable for cutting aluminium conductor steel-reinforced cable (ASCR) to DIN EN 50182, solid Al/Cu cables to DIN 60228, Class 1 and laminated copper bus bars with its 23 kN cutting force.

The ESG 25 and the ESM 25 are both battery powered hydraulic cutting tools with a diameter of 25mm.

The key difference between them is that the ESM 25 has an open head and the ESG 25 has a closed guillotine head.

  • The ESM 25 has a slightly stronger cutting force of 67 kN vs. the 60 kN of the ESG 25.
  • The ESM 25 weighs 1 kg more than the ESG 25. (3.0kg vs. 2.0kg)
  • The ESM 25 is most suitable for open wires (ACSR, Aldrey), stay wires and high-tensile stay wires.

The ESM25CFM and the ESM25ISM are both Makita battery-powered hydraulic cutting tools with a diameter of 25mm and an open head.

What’s the difference between ES32ML and ES32FML?

What’s the difference between the ES32CFM and the ES32ISM?


They are both excellent cable cutting tools for confined workspaces and essentially the same model except for one key difference: the body of the ES32ISM is orange, signifying that it is VDE-certified up to 1000v.

The same is true for the ES32CFB (standard model) and the ES32ISB (VDE model) except that these tools use the Bosch battery system instead of Makita.

What’s the difference between ESGM 45 and ESG 45?


The key difference between the ESGM 45 and the ESG 45 is the shape. The ESGM has an upright shape, whereas the ESG has a “gun” type shape.

With a force of 70 kN, both models are suitable for cutting armoured cables, ACSR ropes, solid structural steel and fine-stranded copper cables.

Other differences include:

  • Charge time – The ESGM charges 3x faster than the ESG, at only 15 minutes compared to 45 minutes
  • Cutting time – The ESGM cuts in 8-10 seconds (depending on material) compared to 8-18 seconds for the ESG

  • They both have a cutting force of 38 kN and a charge time of 15 minutes.

The Klauke ESG 55 is a 55mm diameter cutting tool which is suitable for cutting armoured copper and aluminium cables and ACSR cables.

The only difference between the two models is that the -CFB uses the Bosch battery system and the -CFM uses the Makita battery system.

What’s difference between ES 105 and ESG 105?


The ES 105 and ESG 105 are the largest battery powered hydraulic cutting tools made by Klauke. They are suitable for cutting copper and aluminium cables with lightweight steel armouring. They are available with either a Bosch (-CFB) or Makita (-CFM) battery system.

Key differences in these tools:

  • The ES 105 is suitable for cutting fine-stranded conductors (depending on cable type). This is not recommended with the ESG 105.
  • The ESG 105 has a closed guillotine head and the ES 105 has an open cutter head.
  • The ESG 105 has a much higher cutting force (120 kN vs. 74 kN for the ES 105)
  • The ESG 105 weighs 10.7kg compared to the 9.6kg ES 105.
  • The ESG 105 Makita version is available with a remote control as ESG105RMCCFM. There is no remote control available for the ES 105.
