What’s the difference between EBS8ML and EBS12ML?

The EBS 8 and the EBS 12 are both ideal for cutting cable trays, bolts and medium-hard steel wire. They are both available to order online directly from our website.

Their main difference is that the EBS 8 model has a max diameter of 8mm and the EBS 12 has a max diameter of 12mm.

Other minor differences:

• The cutting force of the EBS12ML is 3x more than then EBS8ML. (45kN for the EBS12 ML vs. 15 kN for the EBS8ML)
  
  
• The cutting time is faster for the EBS8ML. The EBS8ML cuts in an average of 2 seconds and the EBS12ML an average of 4 seconds (depending on material thickness)
  
  
• The EBS8ML is .6 kg lighter than the EBS12ML. The EBS8ML is 1.2 kg and the EBS12ML is 1.8 kg (including battery)

What’s the difference between the EBS8ML, the EBS8CFM and the EBS8CFB?

• The -CFM and the -CFB models are the same except that the-CFM uses an 18v Makita battery system and the -CFB uses an 18v Bosch battery system. The -ML uses a 10.8v Klauke battery.
  
  
• The -CFM/-CFB are part of Klauke’s Next Generation tool line, which boast an OLED display and Bluetooth connectivity with the Klauke Link App.
  
  
• The cutting time for the -CFM/-CFB version is half as long: 1 second per cut in contrast to the -ML’s 2-second cut time (depending on material thickness).
  
  
• The charge time for the -CFM/-CFB models is much quicker: 15 minutes compared to the 40 minute charge time for the -ML.
  
  
• The -CFM/-CFB models are slightly heavier: 1.65 kg vs the 1.2 kg for the -ML (including battery).

Klauke ES 20 - What Are My Options?

The Klauke ES 20 is a battery-powered electric cutting tool suitable for cutting aluminium conductor steel-reinforced cable (ASCR) to DIN EN 50182, solid Al/Cu cables to DIN 60228, Class 1 and laminated copper bus bars with its 23 kN cutting force.

It boasts a lightweight, robust design and slim cutting head, ideal when space is critical.

There are seven options for Klauke ES 20. Here the difference between them:

Klauke Mini - ES 20ML

What’s the difference between the ESG 25 & ESM 25?

The ESG 25 and the ESM 25 are both Klauke cable cutters with a diameter of 25mm.

The key difference between them is that the ESM 25 has an open head and the ESG 25 has a closed guillotine head.

• The ESM 25 has a slightly stronger cutting force of 67 kN vs. the 60 kN of the ESG 25.
  
• The ESM 25 weighs 1 kg more than the ESG 25. (3.0kg vs. 2.0kg)
  
• The ESM 25 is most suitable for open wires (ACSR, Aldrey), stay wires and high-tensile stay wires.
  
• The ESG 25 is most suitable for AL/St wire (ACSR), Cu, Al, St and armoured cables, construction steel and stay wire.

What’s the difference between the ESM25CFM and the ESM25ISM?

The ESM25CFM and the ESM25ISM are both Makita battery power cutters with a diameter of 25mm and an open head.

• They are both suitable for open wires (ACSR, Aldrey), stay wires and high-tensile stay wires.
  
• They both have a cutting force of 67 kN and a charge time of 15 minutes.
  
  
• The -ISM weigh .1 kg less than the -CFM (2.9kg vs. 3.0kg)
  
  
• The key difference is that the -ISM is VDE certified up to 1000v for increased safety, providing an added layer of safety from electric shock.

What’s the difference between ES32ML and ES32FML?

The ES32ML is designed for cutting multi-stranded copper and aluminium cables and the ES32FML is designed for cutting fine and superfine stranded copper cables so have slightly sharper blades for cleaner cuts. Otherwise the specifications are the same.

What’s the difference between the ES32CFM and the ES32ISM?

They are both excellent cable cutting tools for confined workspaces and essentially the same model except for one key difference: the body of the ES32ISM is orange, signifying that it is VDE-certified up to 1000v.

The same is true for the ES32CFB (standard model) and the ES32ISB (VDE model) except that these tools use the Bosch battery system instead of Makita.

What’s the difference between ESGM 452 and ESG 45?

The key difference between the ESGM 452 and the ESG 45 is the shape. The ESGM has an upright shape, whereas the ESG has a “gun” type shape.

With a force of 70 kN, both models are suitable for cutting armoured cables, ACSR ropes, solid structural steel and fine-stranded copper cables.

Other differences include:

• Charge time – The ESGM charges 3x faster than the ESG, at only 15 minutes compared to 45 minutes
  
• Cutting time – The ESGM cuts in 8-10 seconds (depending on material) compared to 8-18 seconds for the ESG
  
• Weight – The ESGM weighs much less than the ESG (4.6 kg compared to 5.9 kg including battery)

What’s the difference between the ESM50CFM and ESM50ISM?

The ESM50CFM and the ESM50ISM are both Makita battery-powered hydraulic cutting tools with an open head with a new cutting geometry that prevents the jamming of strands in the cutting blades.

Similarities:

• They are both suitable for copper and aluminium cables (including fine-stranded and multi-stranded armoured cables)
  
  
• They both have a cutting force of 38 kN and a charge time of 15 minutes.

Differences:

• The key difference is that the -ISM is VDE certified up to 1000v for increased safety, providing an added layer of safety from electric shock.
• The ESM50CFM model has a wider cutting diameter (54mm vs. the ESM50ISM’s 50 mm diameter)

The ES 85 and the ESG 85 are both Klauke battery operated hydraulic cutting tools that are suitable for lightly armoured copper and aluminium cables (depending on cable type).

The key differences between these two tools:

• The ES 85 can cut fine-stranded cable, depending on cable type. This is not recommended with the ESG 85
  
• The ESG 85 has a closed guillotine head while the ES 85 has an open cutter head
  
• The ESG 85 has twice the cutting force of the ES 85 (60 kN vs. 30 kN)
  
• The ESG 85 weighs slightly less than the ES 85 (6.8 kg vs. 7.2 kg with battery)

What’s difference between ES 105 and ESG 105?

The ES 105 and ESG 105 are the largest battery powered hydraulic cutting tools made by Klauke. They are suitable for cutting copper and aluminium cables with lightweight steel armouring. They are available with either a Bosch (-CFB) or Makita (-CFM) battery system.

Key differences in these tools:

• The ES 105 is suitable for cutting fine-stranded conductors (depending on cable type). This is not recommended with the ESG 105.
  
• The ESG 105 has a closed guillotine head and the ES 105 has an open cutter head.
  
• The ESG 105 has a much higher cutting force (120 kN vs. 74 kN for the ES 105)
  
• The ESG 105 weighs 10.7kg compared to the 9.6kg ES 105.
  
• The ESG 105 Makita version is available with a remote control as ESG105RMCCFM. There is no remote control available for the ES 105.
